Rescued Ceramics
One day when I was browsing through a website with art supplies I noticed porcelain paint. Imagining all the things I could paint I quickly bought a sample set, excited with the possibilities. When the set arrived it stayed untouched for a couple of weeks as I was a bit intimidated with the whole process. Eventually, I pushed myself to paint my first plate and quickly fell in love with painting on porcelain.
The potential of porcelain paints is incredible. To make the most of it, I source my porcelain items (plates, teapots, butter dishes etc.) from local Charity Shops. In this way I get to do my painting and the abandoned, plain dishes get a second life.
I paint each item individually, layering up different colours to achieve the best results. I like to add little details with an outliner to enrich the illustration. Then I bake the dishes so that the paint can set for good.
