about viriditas
According to a 12th century mystic Hildegard of Bingen, the only sin in life is drying up. ‘The earth of humankind contains all moistness, all verdancy, all germinating power. It is in so many ways fruitful. All creation comes from it’. ’Viriditas’ (greening power in Latin) is a concept of Hildegard that inspired me to create this collection of paintings. The flow of energy, greenery and nature are present amidst the brushstrokes. These paintings were a part of the exhibition ‘Nature Persists’ at the Arthur Conan Doyle Centre in Edinburgh in 2021.
